Surveying Salut

As a first step of the research project, IMTO archaeologists started a field survey which focused not only on the site itself, but also on the surrounding plain and hills.
This work was fundamental to assess the archaeological potentials of the area, and built on the results of the first archaeological surveys carried out in the early seventies by a team from Harvard University.
Surveys in the area have continued over the years, highlighting the presence of a network of smaller settlements all around the main one, which clearly was the focus of a rather large community. (MdE)
